Exhibit: From Motherhood to Mother Goddess

Event Description

The exhibition, curated by our Fullbright Nehru scholar from India, Neeta Omprakash, includes works from Africa, Cuba and India and includes artists who are Tibetan, Puerto Rican and Egyptian. At the opening reception the former Tibetan monk, Tenzin Wangchuk will bless the site with ritual chants, Raouf Mama will tell a story about the African Goddess, and the contemporary performance artist Karen Dolminiscth will give a presentation in the gallery!

Please be sure to join us!  The programming will go from 4 - 5:30 p.m. and there will be a reception with many of the artists in attendance until 7 p.m.

Also please note that on Wednesday April 3 from 3 - 5 p.m. we will host a panel discussion with several leading scholars about the image of the Goddesses, held in Shafer Auditorium.
